Lumo TV is a digital media channel designed to deliver live, engaging, and visually cohesive content to its audience. I worked on this project to create the channel’s branding, design its graphics, and manage the technical execution of live broadcasts. The project combined creative design with technical operation, requiring both imaginative thinking and precise control to ensure that every segment looked professional and maintained a consistent visual identity.
The project aimed to establish a strong and recognisable visual identity for Lumo TV, inspired by the professional aesthetics of major broadcasters like the BBC and ITV. I designed the channel logo from scratch and created twelve unique graphics for different parts of the live show, including transitions, intros, and lower-thirds. The channel served as a network for my class, which later produced a live program called Morning Mix. My work ensured that the channel had a polished, cohesive look across all segments, providing both a professional feel and a platform for live production practice.
I was responsible for the full branding and technical management of Lumo TV. This included designing the logo and twelve on-screen graphics, setting up OBS Studio for live broadcasts, and operating the software during the shows. I managed transitions, monitored audio and video levels, and ensured that each broadcast adhered to the channel’s visual identity. This role required both creative design skills and technical knowledge of live streaming software, combining aesthetics with real-time execution.
The production process involved creating the visual identity, designing graphics tailored to each show segment, and preparing OBS Studio for live operation. I tested transitions, animations, and graphic placements to ensure they worked smoothly in real-time. During broadcasts, I controlled the software, managed switching between segments, and maintained visual and audio consistency. The design of graphics and branding was closely tied to the technical setup, ensuring that creative and operational aspects of the channel complemented each other.
The live broadcasts were produced using OBS Studio, which I configured to manage multiple camera inputs, pre-made graphics, audio channels, and transitions between shows. I operated the software during live segments, ensuring smooth switching between graphics, cameras, and audio feeds. All production work took place in a classroom-based studio setup, providing a controlled environment to manage live broadcasts, monitor audio, and maintain visual consistency across segments.
This project allowed me to develop skills in branding, graphic design, and live broadcast management. Handling both creative and technical aspects taught me how to plan visuals that work in real-time and adapt to the dynamic environment of live production. It also highlighted the importance of consistency in branding and the need for careful preparation and rehearsal when managing live broadcasts.
The feedback from peers and instructors was highly positive, praising the professional look of the channel, the clarity and creativity of the graphics, and the smooth operation of live segments. They highlighted the way the branding supported the identity of the channel and enhanced the overall viewing experience of the Morning Mix show.
Due to a tight deadline, one of the shows was still being edited and exported while we began broadcasting the rest of the live program. This required me to quickly swap in the new show on-air, adding the completed file to OBS Studio and seamlessly transitioning it for the live audience, just minutes before it was scheduled to air. The process demanded quick thinking, precise timing, and careful monitoring to ensure that the live broadcast continued smoothly without any disruptions for viewers.
I was solely responsible for setting up Lumo TV, creating the network that the rest of the class used to host their shows. I designed and configured the channel, ran OBS Studio during live broadcasts, and monitored each live show to ensure smooth transitions, consistent audio, and professional on-air presentation. My role combined technical setup, live operation, and real-time troubleshooting, providing the foundation that allowed the other students’ broadcasts to run seamlessly.
The completed Lumo TV project demonstrates how strong branding, creative graphics, and precise live broadcast operation work together to create a professional and engaging on-air experience. The logo, graphics, and smooth transitions all support the identity of the channel, making each segment of Morning Mix visually appealing and consistent.
