1066 Pets and People is a pet training business dedicated to helping dogs and their owners develop positive behaviours and skills. For this project, I produced video content to document training sessions, educate clients, and create short, engaging social media clips for platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. The videos were designed to showcase the business’s methods, highlight the progress of both dogs and their owners, and serve as promotional material that connected the business with its audience. The ongoing nature of this collaboration allowed me to work closely with the trainer, understanding the goals of the business and the needs of her clients, which guided how I filmed and edited each session.
The primary goal of this project was to document the progress of dogs during their training, provide educational material for clients, and produce social media content that effectively promoted the business. Each filming session was led by the trainer, which meant I needed to follow the action closely and adapt in real-time. The dogs’ unpredictable behaviour and fast movements created a challenging filming environment, requiring constant attentiveness and quick decision-making to ensure I captured all the key moments. In addition to documenting the sessions, I produced short clips specifically for social media that highlighted training tips and techniques, providing value to followers while also promoting the business’s services. Each video needed to be both informative and visually engaging, making it accessible and appealing to the intended audience.
As the videographer, I filmed all sessions using a handheld Sony A7III camera, capturing multiple angles and perspectives to ensure flexibility in post-production. Working solo, I had to anticipate fast-moving subjects and unpredictable behaviour, adjusting my positioning constantly to capture the most effective shots without disrupting the training sessions. In my role as editor, I compiled the footage into coherent and engaging videos, combining multiple angles to clearly show training methods and pacing the videos to maintain viewer interest. I also produced short clips specifically for social media, focusing on concise and high-impact sequences that highlighted key tips and tutorials. In my capacity as content producer, I mentally planned coverage in real-time while filming to ensure all necessary shots were captured. I coordinated closely with the trainer to ensure that the content met both educational and promotional goals, maintaining professional communication and delivering material that aligned with the business’s objectives. As a social media content creator, I tailored the short clips for Instagram and Facebook, creating visually appealing and informative videos that engaged followers and showcased the business’s methods in an approachable and professional manner.
During pre-production, I coordinated with the trainer to understand the goals for each session and mentally planned which shots would best capture the training progress. During filming, I followed the action closely, adjusting angles and perspectives in real-time to account for the unpredictable behaviour of the dogs. I maintained a professional presence on-site to ensure that neither the trainer nor her clients were disrupted while filming. In post-production, I edited the footage in Premiere Pro, carefully combining multiple angles to produce clear, educational, and engaging videos. For social media content, I condensed the footage into concise clips that highlighted training tips and techniques, ensuring each video reflected the goals of the business and was delivered in a timely manner.
Working on 1066 Pets and People strengthened my ability to work independently in a professional environment while maintaining high standards of communication. Filming fast-moving and unpredictable subjects taught me to anticipate action and plan coverage mentally, ensuring I captured everything needed for editing. I developed my skills in editing multiple angles into coherent, informative, and visually engaging videos while producing content suitable for both educational and promotional purposes. Regular communication with the trainer allowed me to adapt to client needs and deliver content that consistently met the business’s expectations. Although the project is ongoing and some content is still being delivered, the owner has expressed that she is extremely happy with my creative work. This project has provided hands-on experience in every stage of production and reinforced my ability to produce professional, high-quality content independently.
The owner of 1066 Pets and People has expressed that she is extremely happy with the creative content produced so far. She has praised the quality of the videos, the engaging social media clips, and the professional approach to capturing each training session. The content has successfully highlighted the progress of her clients and their dogs, while also reflecting the personality and methods of her business. She has noted that my work consistently meets her expectations and adds real value to the business.
Filming the training sessions required careful planning and adaptability. Working solo, I followed the action closely, capturing multiple angles of the dogs and their owners to ensure every key moment was documented. Each session was led by the trainer, so I had to move fluidly with the action, anticipate fast movements, and adjust my positioning in real-time. These behind-the-scenes efforts ensured that the final videos were comprehensive, engaging, and accurately represented the training process. The work also highlights the technical and creative decisions made during filming, including camera setup, handheld operation, and on-the-fly shot selection.
On this project, I was solely responsible for filming training sessions, creating social media content, and documenting the progress of the dogs and their training. I managed all aspects of camera operation, lighting, and editing, ensuring the final content was engaging, educational, and aligned with the business’s objectives.
